This post is more of a question–for men and women.
I have to start out by saying that I happen to have a lot of attractive friends. Yes, dudes, my girlfriends are pretty smokin’. The best part about them though is the fact that each and every one of them is also incredibly intelligent and ambitious. Many of them live in DC, which makes them attractive, intelligent, ambitious, and employed on the fast track to running this world. Quadruple threats.
Let me paint the picture a little better. For the most part, these ladies are: between 25-35; well dressed and in style; educated; working in fantastic industries; living in the most powerful city in the world.
So here is my question. Are these women intimidating to some of you folks out there?
I’m genuinely curious. Does it scare people to know that a woman can be extremely attractive and intelligent at the same time?
I ask this because of a recent incident involving a friend of mine when a young man (OK, he was like a year or two younger than her, but still an adult) made the comment to this woman’s face that she is just a “gorgeous creature.”
….. (blank stare)
Who says that?
Now, I don’t know about you, but if someone ever called me a gorgeous “creature,” I would laugh. I just don’t think that’s an acceptable compliment. I know the poor boy probably meant well, but using the term “creature” to describe a human being seems pretty…dehumanizing, or worse yet, objectifying.
What do you think?
Men: Would you ever call a well-respected woman, whom you are possibly interested in dating, “creature,” even if you used the adjective gorgeous?
Women: What would you do if a man called you a gorgeous creature?
