A few weeks ago, I attended an event all about Spain in the Design District just north of downtown Miami. This event was a vast and comprehensive display of  Spanish food, design, and of course, wine. Attendees were greeted with tables full of enticing Spanish cheeses (and not just my favorite, Manchego), and olives–including some interesting cheesecake and olive dessert that I tried (from “Olives from Spain”), as well as many other treats.  Several restaurants exhibited with delicious dishes such as fresh ceviche. Some of the restaurants present at the event included: Xion Cafe, The Bazaar, Casa Juancho, and Perfecto.

Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention the great number of Spanish wine companies around the venue that represented many different regions within the growing areas of Spain.

I enjoyed almost every single vino sample, but there were a few that stood out. Torres wines wins the award for the most attractive labeling. I was especially attracted to the Celeste 2010 bottle. I really enjoyed the Las Rocas wines, specifically the 2009 Garnacha Vinas Viejas. Some of the best marketing was done by the Ribera del Duero region, which handed out some of the most informative pamphlets regarding the unique growing area, history, and wine of the region.

Don’t forget the Sherry! There was a lot of Sherry; from the driest wine in the world to the sweetest.

Here are a few photos (not taken by me) to recap this exciting event. Check out Spain’s Great Match!
