We have some exciting people in the wine industry down here in South Florida. I’m so proud to be part of this growing community of energizing, wine-loving souls!
Though we are not near a wine region here in Miami, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have an incredibly knowledgeable base of people who are spreading the wine gospel all over the city.
“Through the Grapevine” Sommelier Stories
One of the perks of being a wine writer in the area is that I get to highlight the people and places doing cool things–on the radio and in print. In my latest “Through the Grapevine” article for South Florida Luxury Guide, I had the opportunity to feature Amanda Fraga, Head Sommelier for Genuine Hospitality Group, which includes Michael Schwartz restaurants, Michael’s Genuine, Amara at Paraiso, Tigertail + Mary, Ella Pop Cafe, & Harry’s Pizzaria here in Miami.

Amanda is a rockstar somm who has a great Instagram too, for those who are looking for a little extra wine knowledge. I was excited to feature her and talk about how she is helping to shape this community and the industry here in South Florida. She also manages a team of sommeliers across several restaurants, which is an incredible feat in itself.
For an extra bonus, check out my IG TV video with Amanda where we taste through several canned wines to find our favorite one.
What other somm stories should be highlighted? Leave them in the comments or find me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Let’s share these stories and those who are positively contributing to our wine community.
