We all know that person (or people) who chase labels and price tags when it comes to wine. They will brag about how expensive a bottle is without really knowing where the wine comes from or what makes it so special.

Don’t be this person.

Part of the power of knowing wine well is the ability to avoid the price trap.

There is a lot of wine out there from regions around the world that offer great value for the money. Many of these bottles feel luxurious without the high price, though sometimes it requires a bit of trial and error to figure out where you can find these bottles. To save you some time, I wanted to make it easier for you this month by offering some suggestions.

In my April wine column for Miami’s Biscayne Times newspaper, I highlight a few bottles that offer affordable luxury from classic European wine regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, Tuscany, and the island of Sicily.

Check out the article in Biscayne Times online or in print.

What are some other bottles or producers that taste more expensive than they actually are?
