I do feel like one of the lucky ones to be able to say I have spent time in the Douro Valley in Portugal. Anyone who has been there surely knows how just spectacular it is.

Even if you aren’t a Port wine drinker, you can appreciate just the absolute beauty of the rows of vines winding up the steep banks of the Douro River, and what a feat of humankind it is to build these vineyards.

If you haven’t been there, you really should consider a trip.

Beauty of the Douro Valley

After visiting the region in September, I was happy to write a little article about how folks can get excited about drinking Port this holiday season for Miami’s Biscayne Times newspaper. From a traditional 20-Year Tawny Port to Port & Tonic canned cocktails, there is truly a Port wine for any palate.

Drive into these special fortified wines in my November Vino column for Biscayne Times.

Happy Port Wine Drinking!
