Vinexpo Americas took place on Miami Beach at the end of April, and wine professionals from all of the Americas participated. Obviously, it is very exciting for Miami to be on the map as a location for this trade conference, and it was also fun to see so many of our South Florida colleagues in leadership roles throughout the two days, from education and masterclasses to panel discussions.
Personally, I participated in a panel about women in wine and redefining success in a changing industry. It was a great conversation in a packed room full of (mostly) women looking for ways to find success in an ever-evolving wine landscape. My main point in the whole talk was that wine needs to get back to the basics. At its core, wine is a connector — of people, places, cultures, history, languages, and more. Maybe we don’t talk about that enough, especially amidst all the doom and gloom headlines, but it’s one of the coolest things about this industry (and the product itself). Wine is connection, and we all need a little more of that with each other.

Additionally, I covered the event for The Drinks Business, a UK-based beverage trade publication. Over three articles, I detailed some of the common themes and ideas discussed throughout the conference. If you’re interested, here are the links to the three articles.
